Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies Unity Cosmos uses on unitycosmos.com, for what purpose, for how long, and how to manage them. It forms part of our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small files the site saves in your browser. We also use local storage (localStorage) and, between hub and embedded worlds, postMessage messaging to securely share session and consent across origins.
2. Types we use
- Essential / technical: necessary to sign in, maintain the session and remember your consent. Without them the hub cannot work properly.
- Analytics (optional): Google Analytics 4 only loads after pressing “Accept” in the consent banner.
- We do not use remarketing or social media cookies for commercial purposes in the hub.
3. Cookie and storage inventory
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Who |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| uc_session | Essential cookie | Keep the Unity Cosmos session on *.unitycosmos.com domains | Up to 7 days | Unity Cosmos |
| unity-cosmos-session | Essential localStorage | Local copy of the universe session (SSO) on the current origin | Up to 7 days or sign-out / site data clear | Unity Cosmos |
| unity-cosmos-consent | Essential localStorage | Remember that you accepted the hub policy/cookies (version 2026-08) | Until consent version change or clear | Unity Cosmos |
| uc_session / uc_consent (URL) | Temporary parameter | Transfer session or consent when returning from /login or to a world (removed from URL after reading) | Single use / instant | Unity Cosmos |
| _ga / _ga_* | Analytics cookie (third party) | Google Analytics 4 — aggregate site usage measurement | Up to 2 years (Google) | Google (only after consent) |
Embedded or linked worlds may set their own cookies on their domain (e.g. roomiehomie.com, nightskydiary.app). See each world’s cookie policy.
4. Legal basis
Cookies and storage strictly necessary for the service are based on legitimate interest / technical necessity of the service. The consent banner documents your informed acceptance of the single-session-across-worlds model, in line with ePrivacy / GDPR cookie guidance.
5. How to manage them
- You can delete cookies and site data from your browser settings (unitycosmos.com).
- If you block essential cookies, you won’t be able to keep your Unity Cosmos session.
- To withdraw registered consent: delete the local “unity-cosmos-consent” key or clear site data; the banner will show again.
- You can also write to [email protected].
